Are you passionate about agroecology, food sovereignty, and sustainable rural development? If so, MONLAR (Movement for National Land and Agricultural Reform) invites you to join our team as a volunteer or intern. We are seeking dedicated individuals from around the world to contribute to our mission of empowering peasant communities and advocating for sustainable, equitable practices.

About MONLAR

MONLAR is a national organization committed to promote sustainable agriculture, protecting natural resources, and advocating for the rights of small-scale food producers and marginalized communities. Over the years, we have made significant strides in expanding the Provincial People’s Planning Forums (PPFs), amplifying the voices of those affected by neo-liberal policies, and implementing evidence-based alternatives.

Opportunities Available

We offer a range of volunteer and internship opportunities in the following areas:

  • Agroecology and food sovereignty: Conduct research on sustainable farming practices, develop educational materials, and support community training programs.
  • Producer cooperatives: Assist in the formation and strengthening of producer cooperatives, ensuring farmers have access to fair markets and resources.
  • Natural resource rights (Seeds, Water, and Land): Advocate for policies that protect community rights to natural resources, conduct impact studies, and support local initiatives.
  • Development finance and policies: Conduct studies and researches and analyze financial mechanisms and free trade agreements and develop strategies to support sustainable rural development and small-scale producers.
  • International policies and rural development: Research multilateral and bilateral international policies affecting rural communities, write case studies, and engage in lobbying and advocacy campaigns.

Responsibilities

As a volunteer or intern with MONLAR, your responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting research and studies on various topics related to sustainable agriculture and rural development.
  • Writing case studies and reports to highlight the impact of MONLAR’s initiatives.
  • Designing and implementing advocacy campaigns to promote sustainable policies and practices.
  • Engaging with local communities to understand their needs and support grassroots movements.
  • Collaborating with team members to develop strategies for policy change and community empowerment.
