Our Mission

Cooperating towards building a peoples movement by capacity building and mobilizing of small farmers and marginalized communities, who have become victims of the globalization structures, to protect natural resources and human rights and to lobby for change and implement alternative policies that are favorable and sustainable.

Strategic objectives

1. Strong network of a National and Provincial level People’s planning forums, represented by small scale producers and their organizations, being established with clear strategies and sustainability plans.

2. People’s planning forums are successful in preventing harmful policies and programs of the Government and private sector and in evidence based influencing of favourable policy changes at national and provincial level.

3. Effective governance, management, communication and human resource development systems were in place within MONLAR


Strategic Activities

  1. . Agrarian Reform
    • Promotion of ecological agriculture on the ground with the farmers (practical training, technical support, research etc.).
    • Work with department of agriculture to develop ecological agricultural models.
    • Lobby and advocacy with the government with the proposals developed by peoples participation.
  2. . Land, water, and territories
    • Study and analyses related polices and publish
    • Awareness building of the people and mobilizing.
    • Hold protest campaigns against destructive polices such as privatization and grabbing and against the impacts of infrastructure development projects.
    • Support legal actions against land grabbing and impacts of infrastructure development projects.
    • Link-up, form and work with networks/alliances.
  3. . Biodiversity and genetic resources/seed
    • Study and analyses related polices and publish them.
    • Awareness building of the people and mobilizing.
    • Hold protest campaigns against destructive polices such as privatization of seeds and deforestation.
    • Support legal actions against deforestations and destruction of biodiversity.
    • Support to develop and establish indigenous seed banks in regional level.
  4. . Sustainable peasant's agriculture Or agro ecology
    • Promotion of ecological agriculture on the ground with the farmers (practical training, technical support, research etc.).
    • Lobby and advocacy with the government with the proposals developed by peoples participation.
  5. . Food sovereignty and trade/WTO
    • Study and analyses related polices and publish them.
    • Awareness building of the people and mobilizing.
    • Hold protest campaigns against destructive policies.

  6. . Women's rights
    • Gender mainstreaming is a policy of MONLAR.
